The growth of electronic books is turning publishing on its ear, in the words of T.J. Waters, a senior consultant for U.S. Special Operations Command Headquarters and a former vice president of a private intelligence consulting firm.

Among other accomplishments, he is a published author, in print and electronically. He also is co-founder of Autography, a St. Petersburg, FL company that developed technology to insert an author's autograph into an e-book over the Internet.

"Publishing is in a tailspin," said Waters. "Traditional publishers and e-retailers are battling each other, and how we read has changed significantly. There no longer is a need to go to a store to buy a book and reading is faster because we are reading in spaces of time."
